Chapter 23 Peeps

Happy Almost New Year Everybody
I love this feature where I can set what time the post are made public so I can write them and then later they go public

Chapter 23 is in Aibileens Point of View again everybody. Aibileen has been making up "secret stories" for Mae Mobley. Aibileens tells her a "Made Up Story" about Martin Luther King Jr and how nobody liked him because he was green. It is now late October 1963 and they are meeting for bridge club other than Skeeter, when Celia Foote shows up to the house asking to help Hilly with the benefit on November 15th but Hilly says they don't need help but sells her tickets so her and Johnny can go. She reveals that Minny Jackson is her maid and Hilly is now on a mission to find out how she got hired

There is a big problem here mostly due to the fact that One - Celia is being shunned out for who she is married to. PEOPLE DON'T LIKE HER BECAUSE SHE IS MARRIED TO JOHNNY. What kind of excuse is that and I think Aibileen is doing good "making up" these stories for Mae Mobley on issues in the world she has yet to understand. . .

Chapter 22 review my servants

Good Morning almost afternoon . . .
Tomorrow is the New Year can you believe it

Chapter 22 comes to us in Aibileen's POV and it starts on Mae Mobley's third birthday and she asks Aibileen if she has any babies and Aibileen tells her she has 17 which is all the kids she nannied over the years. One was John Dudley who was confused about many things and liked to wear skirts and perfume and for 6 years everyday his father "tired to beat the girl out of him" with a rubber hose. The next day Skeeter tells Aibileen she is going out of town for 3 days. On monday morning Hilly calls in a panic because Skeeter made an error and had people drop their old toilets off at her house. Mae Mobley is excited by all the toilets and uses one before Aibileen can stop her. Also Aibileen thinks that Skeeter does not realize the trouble she is in . . .

First like John Dudley was beat for 6 straight years that in itself is a problem because their is this thing called domestic violence and he should be getting charged but thats not how it was in this time period they were allowed to beat their children even the teachers were aloud to beat children I do not know about you but I would be upset by this. Also one thing why is it Aibileen's fault that Mae Mobley used the toilet not Elizabeth's all you ponder on this.

Chapter 21

Gosh Dang,
I am doing other work while doing this and I can't seem to get a though going for it

Chapter 21 is in good'ol Skeeters Point of View. Skeeter is heartbroken and drowns out her pain through writing her book on the typewriter. Skeeter's mum Charlotte is really sick so Skeeter pretends her and Stuart are together to keep her mum happy though she is not happy herself. They have 5 more chapters to write in the book and Skeeter is starting to feel some of the nerves. Hilly and Skeeter get in an argument because Skeeter is refusing to print the bathroom plan in the newsletter. Hilly threatens to fire her as an editor and says she wants to protect the league from "racial integrationist" because who else will donate money to starving children in Africa. Skeeter calls Hilly a hypocrite and Hilly comes back with no wonder Stuart dropped you.

OH MY GOODNESS, what is happening to Jackson, This is mean girls in a town setting I have no doubt in my mind, Skeeter refuses to do something for the good of other people and now she is being told that Stuart dropped her because she is trying to do something good She is working hard to help others which no body knows about and she is getting punished and criticized for it

The song of the chapter is Wings by Little Mix because it is all about standing out from the crowd which Skeeter is doing

Chapter 20 everybody

How's it going,

It has been 3 weeks since the last chapter took place which means in Skeeters POV dinner at the Whitworth's and even their maid has heard about the book. Stooley Stuarts dad's is a bigger drinker just so everyone knows. They lie and say Skeeter is writing about the life of Jesus Chirst which is the biggest lie of all. Somehow the conversation keeps getting awkward as Stuart ex-Patrica keeps getting brought up. Skeeter's father, Carlton brings up the shooting and how he is ashamed what happens in Mississippi and Stooley goes to agree with him until his wife stops him. Stuart tells Skeeter that he needs a break from their relationship for a while but they are not telling their parents they are on a break. . .

First things first STUART MADE HER SMILE AFTER HE BROKE UP WITH HER BECAUSE HE DID NOT WANT THEIR PARENTS TO KNOW. I don't know about you but I would be frowning and like bawling because I would be sad and Francine, Stooley's Wife is so mean like how is she not ashamed what is happening in Mississippi and a drunks words are his sober thoughts, like come on people you are with the government you can do something about it

The song of the chapter is Girl Worth Fighting For From the Disney Movie Mulan because Stuart he does not fight for what he wants but lets them get away. . .

Chapter 19 - Skeeter

Good Morning People who are probably sleeping . . .

If I am doing one review after another you guys won't get an update on my wonderful life

Now this chapter its drama filled let me tell you but we have to rewind back to remember something from another chapter. Okay so everyone remember how Yule May, Hilly's maid was interested well now she is on board with the book, Also she has a set of twins who are trying to go off to college. This Chapter is in Skeeter's POV and starts with Stuart coming to visit her and asking her to go to Biloxi for a week with him, Skeeter can not go and tells him she would have to lie to her parents and he is not okay with lying. Stuart tells her that he wants to invite her and her parents to dinner with him and his parents in 3 weeks. Also he comes back 3 days later and Skeeter finds out the Stuart mother and his ex-fiancee were close though we do not find out why they broke up. The next day (now here's the drama). Skeeter gets a letter from Yule May saying how she was trying to send both her boys to college and she stole a ruby ring from Hilly and now the college money is going to her court fines since HILLY had her arrested and Skeeter knows that Hilly did not care about the ring the Yule May stole at all. One by One 13 new maids come up and tell Skeeter that they will tell her their stories and they send Yule May's boys to college.

Wooooo they did it they go the maids they needed to write the book, and their was a lot that happened like 1 this is 1963 does Stuart really think Skeeter will go away with him for the weekend that is like signing a death wish for people. And Skeeter is meeting his parents in 3 weeks what does everyone think about that like shocker. Also, Hilly sent a poor maid to jail because she is trying to send her boys to college and Hilly has an abundance of everything was it really necessary. I am telling you she is this books reincarnation of Regina George.

The Song of the Chapter is Go The Distance and Go The Distance Reprise from the Movie Hercules which is my favorite Disney Movie of all time

Chapter 18 Review - 9 days to go

Good Morning Canada,
I will probably do more than 3 posts today so I don't have to do as many tomorrow or Thursday, I want to get all 9 done but I do not know what kind of time I will have. . .

This is in Minny's point of view, and she is trying to get her job back from Celia. When Minny arrives Celia does not recall firing her at all. Later in the day she hears funny noises coming from and bathroom and she find Celia had a miscarriage in the house and she now has to call Celia's Dr.Tate. She reveals that she was 5 months pregnant. Minny asks her why she drinks so much and Celia tells her that she was not drinking alcohol but a concoction to help to not have a miscarriage. She is afraid Johnny with leave her is she does not give him a baby soon because she has already miscarried 3 other babies. Minny decides to tell Celia that she has met Johnny and that he is not mad that she hired a maid. . .

So this chapter is interesting because it is a climatic point of the novel so secrets are being unveiled and people are start to be revealed for their true colors. Things are starting to turn around in the novel due to the fact of everyone's true colors being revealed and we learn Celia isn't a raging alcoholic but just trying to make her husband and herself happy with a child.

Last Post of the Day - Chapter 17

Hello Internet,
We are just going to do the review today

POV change to Minny in this chapter woo. It has been 9 months since she started working for Celia and she still hasn't told Johnny and Johnny has not told her that he knows about Minny. Minny also is starting to wonder if she is just lazy or crazy and Celia is trying to get into bridge club and Johnny is trying to help but none of them will return her calls. Minny and Aibileen are talking about Civil rights and Minny wants a better for her children instead of people bullying them for things they didn't do and everyone being able to eat in the same places. Minny finds out the Celia is secretly drinking and Minny father was a drunk and now she has to deal with a drunk husband. Inevitably this leads to an argument between Minny and Celia where Minny gets fired and now Minny just hopes she can get her job back

Bam cliffhanger review end dun dun dun. Okay lets talk about this because its mean girls. Celia is the ultimate loner in the mean girls universe because she is dating the ex of Hilly Holbrook (Regina George). I would be upset to if someone was dating my ex but not to this extreme point of upsetment (not a word but whatever). And it is bad that one step out of line and a black man or women would get fired. . .

Chapter 16 Review!!

I would give you a quote from the novel but I could not find on to suit this.

Chapter 16 is in Aibileen POV again and is all about a church meeting at the church that all the blacks attend mostly women though. There has been a lot of anger since the death of Medgar Evans and Aibileen is trying to find more maids to help her with the book. She wants to use Minny to make the sell but she can not risk having Minny's husband find out about the book because he already beats her and Aibileen does not want to make it worse. Yule May who is Hilly's maid comes to talk to her at the end of the meeting about joining the book and Aibileen says that she would call her and tell her the details.

Chapter 16 was really really short but it is important to the plot a little later on in the novel, you will just have to wait and no body wants to help which is really sad because their voices need to be heard all over the world.

The song of the chapter is Determinate from the Disney Channel original movie Lemonade mouth and the words aren't right on to the problem it has the message I am looking for.

The picture below is of some of the black maids in Mississippi

I will be back again soon, Don't miss me to much . . .

Chapter 15 review - Post One of the Day

10 days to go everybody,
I am getting up way to early for winter break but their is a lot to be done so on to what I actually have to do

Chapter 15 comes to us in the point of view Aibileen again. One day Elizabeth's mother comes to town and is mean to Mae Mobley, so Aibileen comforts Mae Mobley feel better. Another day, Hilly invites Elizabeth and her kids to the country club in Jackson along with her kids. Skeeter later in the day also shows up at the country club and confronts Hilly on why she has been avoiding her and what she saw in her satchel that day after the Jackson League. Hilly says she saw the black laws from the library and she thinks Skeeter wants to change the laws. Skeeter tells her that she just took it home to read and that she think Hilly is working to hard on Williams campaign. Skeeter and Aibileen are relieved that they have yet to be found out.

I wanna talk about one of the first things I mentioned in this post about how Aibileen comforted Mae Mobley from her GRANDMOTHER and why would any grandmother insult their grandchild who is only 3-5 years old in the novel, If my grandmother insulted me I would be so upset like Mae Mobley also I look like my Grandmother from when she was younger and why would someone insult their own flesh and blood. Also the mean girls are on the verge of a break up can you not tell like Skeeter looks in a hole she knows how to get out of for now. . .

The song of the chapter is Apologize Cover sung by Luke Bryan originally sung by Timberland featuring One Republic

Chapter 14 Review!!!!

Last Post of the day!
You guys really don't care what I did but anyway I went to have lunch which was delicious and I watched Criminal Minds as I said I was going to . . .

Chapter 14 is narrated by Aibileen (Woo POV change) and just the audience learns that Minny's husband Leory is beating her, during this time Skeeter is pushing her to talk about her husband and civil rights and this almost causes Minny to back out of the book until she see Hilly's outside bathroom plan and Minny is right back on board. When Aibileen is at Eliabeths house, Hilly and her kids are their as well and she notices that Hilly is a lot nicer around her children and does not punish them for their faults. Also she learns that she knows Skeeter is up to something and when Skeeter calls Aibileen later that night Aibileen tells her but they do not stop the book because she had nothing about the book in the bag. Also a black Civil rights leader had been shot in Jackson, Mississippi by the KKK 5 minutes from Minny's house.

Again as the last few chapters it has been kind of slow so their isn't much to review on the chapter. It really does suck for Minny though that her husband is beating her because 1. she has 5 children she has to raise and her husband is beating her that is a lot to handle. I think Hilly even though she is mean when it comes to her children she is nice and caring for them. Also Skeeter and Aibileen are taking a big risk continuing with the book especially with the death of a civil rights activist.

The song of the chapter is All These Lives by Daughtry.

Chapter 13 Review!!!

Post #3 (only one more after this),
Nothing has happened so on with the review . . .

Are you prepared mean girls and romance is back. It starts off with Minny, Aibileen and Skeeter in Aibileen's house writing down Minny's stories. One night when Skeeter is at home typing, her mother comes up to her room and tells that STUART WHITWORTH (remember him...) was her to see her. He asks her out on a date after apologizing for his behavior on the blind date. She says no to his date at first but then changes her mind about it (gossip). He takes her out to dinner and they get to know each other more really hitting it off with each other. Later in the week she goes to the library and "takes" some books about Black Laws in Mississippi about the separation between the blacks and the whites. Lastly in this chapter she attend the Junior league meeting where she is getting questioned about what is going on with Stuart Whitworth, she forgets her bag at the league meeting and suspecting Hilly picked it up she has to go to get it since it has all her black laws and miss Myrna columns in it and Hilly does not have a problem looking through things.

Wow so many things happened but one thing I have to refernce back to is my mean girls reference and we are going to add Stuart in as Aaron Sander the main guy in the movie other than the fact he is not Hilly's ex he fits the bill for the character. We still do not have a Gretchen Wieners but we are going to get one I will tell you that. Also Hilly is really filling her role as Regina George like snooping through others things and interrogating people about their lives. Elizabeth like Karen does not do anything. this was more of a summary post than a review because of the little tidbits in the summary. This is all the review I really have for this.

The song of the chapter is Just The Way You Are by Billy Joel

Chapter 12 Review!!!!!!

Post #2 - 11 days till due date
It has been like 45 minutes since I posted because I went to watch some tv, On with the next chapter. . .

This is in Skeeters POV again and focus more on Aibileen and Skeeter writing the book, over the course of two weeks. Her mother is starting to get suspicious about where Skeeter keeps going but Skeeter says that she is working at a church her mother does not know anybody. During their fifth session Aibileen reads to Skeeter about Treelores death and soon after that they are able to finish a section and send it off to Elaine Stein. At the bridge game almost 2 weeks later Elizabeth announces that once again she is pregnant also Hilly's husband is trying to become a state senator. Also Skeeter hears back from Elaine Stein saying that she like Aibilieen piece and wants 12 more maids before January if she wants a chance at publishing. So as Aibileen and Skeeter set out to find more maids they convince Minny to help them out with it.

In this Chapter Aibileen and Skeeter come over a lot of obstacles that they were worried to face though they are not the biggest ones they will have to face. They got over the fact of being worried about what they are doing but yet they are still worried for their safety, Also they were able to bring someone else to their cause because of their dedication to it but their is also the fact of the white women finding out that worries them, I don't know about you but I would be worried to.

The song of the chapter is  Don't Stop Believin' by Journey to overcome obstacles and never stop believing

Chapter 11 Review OMG!

HELLO,
It is early in the morning but I have a lot to do today so I am writing early this morning since it is now 11 days till the due date.

This chapter again is narrated by Skeeter and it is sometime in February, she is going to Aibileen's for the first interview for her book. Aibileen is terrified of doing this because she knows the repercussions of helping out with something so rebellious. Her nerves give out during the meeting and she can't do it. When Skeeter goes to Elizabeth's for bridge club she gets a coded message from Aibileen that she is ready to help again tho this time she wants to write it down and read it to Skeeter. They get all into detail with Aibileen's story that everything might just work out for them.

I quite enjoyed this chapter because of the fact that 1. Skeeter had not given up on the book when everyone said no because some one did come back around to help her. 2. Aibileen is taking a big risk in Skeeters book yet she is all for helping her. The reason is sort of foreshadowed but I think it is because Aibileen wants people to know what these white women are doing and the effects of their actions toward people in society.

The song of the chapter is Respect by Aretha Franklin because as she is rebelling against the whites she really underlying wants respect.

Chapter 10 Review!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not much has happened since the one I posted like 10 minutes ago sooooooo....................

This is narrated in Minny's POV and it is now December 1st in the novel, it is 24 days till Celia has to tell Johnny about Minny and Minny can not stand the waiting anymore. Celia is trying to make friends in the neighborhood but Johnny being Hilly's ex makes that kind of a hopeless case, so it is making her really upset to the point where she tells Minny to leave for the day. Minny has been told by Aibileen that Aibileen will help with Skeeters book and she thinks she is going crazy because of it. Johnny comes home to find Minny though he expected Celia hired help because of the good food. Johnny is letting her keep it a secret till she tells him herself.

This chapter is interesting because most spouses would confront their partner on the spot for keeping a secret or even if they suspected they were keeping something but he lets it slide. their is not much to review in this chapter due to the fact not much did happen in this chapter that really changed the plot...

The song of the chapter is Nothing Lasts Forever by Maroon Five because Celia is feeling a little lonely with no friends but as the song says nothing lasts forever.

The picture below is of Minny and Celia in Celia's house

Chapter 9 Review!!

Lots to do, yet so little time,
It is now a countdown till this is due (which is 12 days (just so you know)). If I wanna finish I need to post like 3 times a day. Lets Begin

It is in Skeeters point of view and it is blind date time with Stuart Whitworth along with Hilly and William who is Stuarts cousin. She does not want her mother to know so she tells her that she is babysitting Hilly's kids so they can go on a date. She shows up to Hilly's in a big ol'pick up truck looking like a mess thought for the second she see's stuart she thinks he's cute. The date itself is a disaster since Stuart is drunk and insults Skeeter every time she opens her mouth. After the disaster of a date on Monday Aibileen calls to tell Skeeter she will help her with the book.

I think this bad date was good for Skeeter since she had never dated anyone before this. Though it was probably horrible for her self esteem if was good for her mind to understand that this happens in the real world and thats it not always like a movie... I don't have much else to say on this

The song of the chapter is Beating Heart by Ellie Golding as part of the Divergent movie soundtrack.

Chapter 8 Review!!

Look at this,
Its Boxing Day in a lot of places though I do not want to do any shopping it is a little to hectic for me unless I really want something. On with the review

Skeeter narrates this chapter again and it has been 2 weeks since she sent the letter with her idea of interviewing maids to Miss. Elaine Stein. She did lie in the letter saying that she had an interview lined up with a maid that she did not actually have. Elaine called her a week after the letter was posted and told her that she is interested in the idea but she is not making any promises that it will be published. Skeeter has tried 3 times to get Aibileen on board or to ask on of her friends that is a maid to help her out but Aibileen has refused every time. Skeeter is forced to see Aibileen thank Hilly for convincing Elizabeth to get her an outside bathroom which makes Skeeter pretty upset about it. Also Skeeter's mother uses the Shinalator on Skeeter's hair and after it is done Skeeter herself feels beautiful and is ready for the blind date Hilly has set up.

Its like mean girls up in this joint like Hilly is Regina George the Queen Bee and Elizabeth is Karen Smith who has no clue what is going on, Skeeter is Cady Heron who is taking the time to talk to people outside the "group" and the Aibileen and the other maids are all the different groups in the school. I don't have a person for Gretchen Weiners yet but maybe it will come up later in the novel. Skeeter is making a risky move about the book and trying to get maids to interview for it and risks their lives since black lives did not matter then.

The song for the chapter is Milkshake by Kelis because 1. its on the means girls movie track and 2. it reminds me of Hilly and her saying that she is better than everyone

Chapter 7 Review

Due Date Fast Approaching,
I still have a long way to go before this is ready and a short time to do so. In turn the people who look at this page will hear a lot from me about this book

We get to see through the eyes of Aibileen this chapter which takes place October 1962. Aibileen is working with Mae Mobley a lot more on her self of esteem since her mother constantly puts her down telling her she is bad. It is time for Mae Mobley to learn to potty train and her mother wont show her and Aibileen can not use the inside bathroom, so in turn she teaches her in the outside bathroom. When she goes to show Elizabeth her progress Mae Mobley runs to the outside bathroom and then Elizabeth hits her and tells her she will catch diseases. This chapter continues into November which on the 3rd Aibileen son Treelore died. This was the third anniversary of his death and Aibileen is very upset. On this day she learns the one of Treelores friends Robert accidently used a white bathroom and was beaten and blinded because of it. Skeeter at the end of the chapter proposes to Aibileen that she wants to write a book about the black maids in Mississippi and Aibileen tells her no body in their right mind would agree to doing it, if they didn't want to be hurt.

The discrimination in this novel is horrible like the black women fear for their lives if they so much as talk to a white women, are beaten and blinded if they use the wrong bathroom and even kids are abused in this book if they do something wrong to an extreme you used the wrong bathroom you get slapped. THAT IS CHILD ABUSE PEOPLE, CHILD ABUSE. not much happened in this chapter to review.

The song of this chapter is Nasty by Janet Jackson not to be discriminatiory but she is of darker skin and she has some of the best songs from the 80's generation

Chapter 6 Review!

People who I do not actually know,
It has been so long (just kidding like 4 days) since I have posted but I will tell you I have been very busy doing very important things. On to Chapter 6...

Again this chapter is in Skeeters P.O.V (woo, she is my favorite). This chapter takes place in September 1962 and Skeeter gets a letter from Elaine Stein who works at a publishing company in New York called Harper and Row Publishers. She says Skeeter does not have enough experience for this job she applied for just before she left Ole Miss but she likes her ambition and suggests she get a job at her local newspaper and if she ever has any ideas for a book to send her a letter about some ideas and she would help her out with writing the novel. Skeeter has a double major in Journalism and English, got the job at the newspaper and asks for Aibileens help with the column due to the fact it has to do with housekeeping something Skeeter knows nothing about. We learn also that Aibileens late son Treelore was writing a book about what it is like to be black in Mississippi. Also we learn that Constantine had a daughter with pale skin since Constantine father was of pale skin and the father of the child was black. It was not right in Mississippi that two blacks have a white child so they sent their daughter away and Constantine always wanted to have her back but those are all the details we get.

This book is so discriminatory even thought this is only the first few chapters like the white women know nothing about housecleaning because they have a black housekeeper to do it for them. Skeeter takes a house keeping column yet she knows nothing about keeping a house clean. Also she has to ask Elizabeths permission to talk to Aibileen about housekeeping and getting her help with the column since maids are like white women's property they are like objects that they use for their own needs. I love Skeeter honestly but in this chapter I feel she should have tried a different route instead of using a black housekeeper to do her job at the newspaper for her.

My song of the chapter is Count On Me by Bruno Mars because I feel from here they are going to learn to trust each other if they are going to work with each other and count on each other.

Chapter 5 Review!

People Who are Taking the Time to Read This (Probably Nobody),

It is 8:30am where I am living and we are having a work period in class, I believe this is to early to function so pardon the bad jokes I may make.

We are now reviewing Chapter 5, which is from the 3rd point of view we will view in this story. This is from the point of view of my favorite character, Eugenia (Skeeter (what we will call her)) Phelan. She is 23 years old and not yet married which is viewed as odd in 1962 Jackson, Mississippi. Skeeter is best friends with Hilly Holbrook and Elizabeth Leefort since elementary school. Hilly and Skeeter went to Ole Miss together until Hilly and most of Skeeters friends dropped out to get married. Skeeters Mom, Mrs. Charlotte Boudreaux Cantrelle Phelan, believes she should get a job where she would be able to find a husband and that her trust fund makes up for her lack of beauty. Skeeter is thinking about Hilly's outside bathroom project and her former maid Constantine, who was working for the Phelan family until just before Skeeter came back from Ole Miss in which she just moved with her family to Chicago with no new address.  Also before Skeeter left Ole Miss she applied for a job at an editing company in New York.

Skeeter is a very interesting character due to the fact that she is the only white female in the novel that has a point of view since Minny and Aibileen are both African-American. She is one of the few women in Jackson that has a degree from university or college since most women dropped out before they could complete their degree so they could get married. She did not drop out which makes her so much more educated and intimidating to men that might consider dating her. Also I believe Skeeter is out of the loop from her friends who are married with children and she is living an independent life.

The song of this chapter is Miss Independent sung by Kelly Clarkson, I feel this repersent Skeeter because she is independent who does not need a man in her life to make it or break it.

Chapter 4 Review!

Good Morning Danville,
This is actually becoming a lot of fun to write these blog post so I might as well keep going while I still enjoy doing them.

This chapter again is in Minny Jackson's point of view again such as chapter 3. In this chapter Minny is starting to work for her new boss Miss Celia Foote and after the first few weeks staring falling into a routine for cleaning miss Celia's house. Also Celia asked Minny to try and help her to learn how to cook. Minny also keep reminding Celia when she has to tell Johnny about in a certain amount of days every pay day. Miss Celia never leaves her home because she has no friends in the town she tries to offer her help with the Children's Benefit but Hilly and Elizabeth will not call her back. We learn that Minny has five children of her own and an alcoholic husband. At the end of the chapter Minny and Celia almost get found out by Johnny when he comes home early but they end up being able to keep the secret.

This book all the time hooks an interest of those who are either part of a popular click who is rude and discriminating to others because they do not model the full life society wants us to follow. I still believe that Minny and Celia should not have kept this secret from Johnny because it is out of his pay check that Minny gets paid. Also I do not believe it is right that Hilly and Elizabeth refuse to call back Celia for her to help with the Children's Benefit or just tell her they do not need help.

The song of the chapter is  Complicated by Arvil Lavgine because all of their lives are so complicated by and with friendships

Chapter 3 Review!

PEOPLE OF THE INTERWEB,
I am posting twice in one night wow look at me go. This is a life path of I have nothing better to do so why not. Now on to the chapter.

We get a new point of view this chapter of 36 year old Minny Jackson, who Hilly hates with a burning passion yet it is unknown to why. Minny after getting fired from Miss Walters had not been able to find a job until it came to Miss Celia Foote, a woman who is hated by Hilly as much as Minny. Celia believes Elizabeth recommended this maid for her when it was Aibileen. Miss Celia had not yet hired a maid and at first she believes Minny does not want the job, yet she does. So Celia offers to pay her double what Miss Walter was paying her though the only catch is Minny must not tell Celia husband. Minny makes Celia promise to tell him before Christmas.

This is very interesting because we getting the impression Celia has alot of money and would be powerful in society for the wealth that she has but yet some of the wealthiest people in town hate her for a reason yet to be figured out. The person who hates her the most is the biggest barbie in the book, trying to live into the mold of society image and doing a pretty bang up job about it. Celia will be an interesting character to keep tabs on in the book due to the fact she keeps trying.

The song for this chapter is Secrets by One Republic. I feel it fits this chapter because relationship are built on trust and telling your partners your darkest secrets but yet Celia is keeping this from her husband.

Chapter 2 Review!

OMG Fellow Humans,
My English ISU is due in the New Year which is what this blog is for but might as well get a head start while I have the time.

This chapter is in the point of view again of Aibileen. One of the major points of the chapter is introducing one of the main character in the novel Minny Jackson. Minny is a maid for Miss. Walter and now in this chapter Hilly sent Miss Walter away to a nursing home leaving Minny out of a job. For 3 day Minny is unable to find a new job until she is informed that Miss Hilly has being telling everyone that she is a thief and should not be hired. We do not know why Hilly hates Minny more than the rest of the maid in Mississippi, though it is revealed it has something to do with a pie. Also in this chapter Elizabeth falls for Hilly's invective and makes a bathroom in her garage for Aibileen even though her husband is fully against it.

I am astounded and do you want to know why (if you are reading this you don't really have a choice.) Elizabeth just spent all that money to make her look cooler around her friends. If they were really her friends they would not care if they had to share a bathroom with their help, they would deal with it. Hilly also is very outright mean in this chapter, she accuses Minny of something she did not do not helping her in anyway to get another job because of something that happened in the past.

The song of this chapter is I Hate Everything About You by Three Days Grace (Click Title). I will bet you the chorus does not have anything to do with the story line but it fits in with talking about how Minny and Hilly hate eachother

Chapter 1 Review!

Hello whoever is taking the time to read this,
This is the start of my chapter reviews. In the chapter reviews I will include, a quick summary of the chapter, a review for what has happened, a song that I believe relates to the chapter and maybe even a few pictures.

In this Chapter we are introduced to many characters. One of the main one is Aibileen Clark. Aibileen is the Help for Miss. Leefolt and her new born daughter Mae Mobley. She is bossed around by Miss Leefolt especially on the 4th Wednesday of every month as that is bridge club day, with Miss, Skeeter, Miss, Hilly and her mom Miss, Walter. We get an inside peak into Aibileen life and her dead son Treelore. Most of this chapter has to do with the bridge club and their Jackson League. They specifically talk about Celia Foote and there dislike toward her. One major point brought up in the Chapter that effects the rest of the novel is Hilly's new proposal that people get a separate bathroom for their help and black people in general. There is more in this chapter but most of it is unimportant to the rest of the novel.

Review for this chapter is pretty short but its only because it is the beginning of the book but I believe that a few assumptions need to be made in this chapter and some may confuse (Hopefully not though). I think it is right to assume that Hilly, Elizabeth, and Skeeter are the main group that everyone looks up to. Like in high school the top 3 or the 3 musketeers and let me tell you in my school you sometimes can see the top 3 clearly. Also there is a lot of negligent from parents in this story which the maids have to try and make up for the kids they are taking care of such as these 3 women are leaving what they are doing to go and play bridge with there friends. I have read the book so I won't give any spoilers but it gets good I swear.

A song I believe has something to do with this chapter (and I just like music) is Popular Song by MIKA featuring Ariana Grande (Click song title to go to music video). It is about standing out but still being put down by the popular kids which I think that our top 3 might do to multiple people inside the book and in reality in schools today.

Picture time: These are pictures of the characters from the movies. I am including Aibileen Clark as the photo for this post
